The Rev. Robert F. Shea, 85, died Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Southern Pines.
Visitation will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Southern Pines, on Wednesday, April 3, beginning at 5 p.m., with the vigil for the deceased prayed at 6:30 p.m., with the Rev. Monsignor Jeffrey A. Ingham, V.F., presiding. The visitation will conclude at 7 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Most Rev. Michael F. Burbidge, principal celebrant, the Rev. Joseph G. Vetter, homilist, and diocesan and religious priests as concelebrants for the Mass. Interment will follow immediately at St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery, 2922 Camp Easter Road, Southern Pines.
He was born June 14, 1927, in Lowell, Mass., to the late John F. Shea and Cecile Marie Grondin. Father Shea was also preceded in death by his two siblings, Edward Shea and Theresa Cerilli.
After discerning a vocation to the priesthood, he entered St. John’s Home Missions Seminary in Little Rock, Ark., for studies in philosophy, theology and for priestly formation. Father Shea was ordained a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Raleigh at Sacred Heart Cathedral by the Most Rev. Vincent S. Waters on May 19, 1955.
During his priestly life, Father Shea served in many parishes throughout North Carolina, when the Diocese of Raleigh comprised the entire state. His assignments to priestly ministry included the following: the Missionary Apostolate at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Newton Grove; Saint Mary, Goldsboro; St. Ann, Smithfield; St. John the Baptist, Tryon; Our Lady of Lourdes, Monroe; Holy Rosary, Lexington; St. Francis of Assisi, Lenoir; Holy Trinity and Our Lady of Atonement, Kinston; Immaculate Conception, Durham; St. Mary, Wilmington; St. Luke the Evangelist, Raleigh; and St. John the Baptist, Roanoke Rapids, from where he retired in 2000.
Following retirement, Father Shea continued to generously serve many parishes in priestly ministry, including St. Anthony of Padua, Southern Pines; Sacred Heart, Pinehurst; as well as the community at St. Joseph of the Pines.
Father Shea additionally served as diocesan director of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and vicar forane (Dean) for the Cape Fear Deanery, and also the Raleigh Deanery.

Sally Lou Hinkin, 86, of Pinehurst, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013.
A private service for the immediate family was held on March 30.
Sally was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Grand Blanc, Mich. She married Robert George Hinkin, the love of her life, on June 14, 1947; they were married 65 years.
Sally worked in the library system in the Saginaw Township, Mich., school system for more than 25 years and was an avid reader her entire life. Following retirement, she and Bob moved to Pinehurst. Those who knew and loved her appreciated her sense of humor and wit.
Sally is survived by her husband, Bob; sister Peg Penney, of Midland, Mich.; three children, Terry Lane Long, of Pinehurst, Sara Jayne Mayo and her husband, Brad, of Hopkinton, Mass., and Timothy Robert Hinkin and his wife, Linda, of Ithaca, N.Y.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other extended family and dear friends.

Georgiana Eleanor Baker DeMolet, 89, of Pinehurst, died peacefully Saturday, March 30, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Pinehurst.
She was born July 1, 1923, in Kansas City, Kans., to Worthington and Alice Baker, of Canfield, Ohio. Mrs. DeMolet graduated from Ohio University, taught elementary school and was a published poet. She brought grace and vivacity to many groups and sororities, including Chi Omega Sorority, the Chippers golf club in Pinehurst; assisted with Meals on Wheels and belonged to several bridge clubs and women’s groups.
Through her eighth decade, she remained active volunteering her time and energy at the Bargain Box, and she loved being the Tea Lady at the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst for many years.
Mrs. DeMolet was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John P. DeMolet IV. They are reunited today in heaven.
She is survived by her two devoted sons, Larry, of Pinehurst, and John, of Hope Mills; six grandchildren, Lindsay Aldridge, of Carthage, James, of New York City, David, of Pinehurst, Madalyn Davis, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Julie and J.P., of Southern Pines; and three great-grandchildren, Meghan Aldridge, of Carthage, Grey Davis, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jayda Bell, of Southern Pines.

Jennifer Leigh Callahan went to be with her Savior Friday morning, March 29, 2013.

Jenn was the daughter of Judy Callahan, of Scotland County, and the late Hampton Callahan. She was the granddaughter of David and Boo Simmons Bobbitt, of Aberdeen, and the late Larry Simmons.
She is survived by her twin sister, Jamie Callahan, of Cary; and two half-sisters, Trudy Lyon and Amy Callahan, both of Lexington.
Jenn graduated from Scotland High School in 1998. She studied graphic design at Sandhills Community College and Randolph Community College. She graduated from Mitchell’s Cosmetology School in 2002.
Jenn had a vibrant, outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. She was very humble and had a natural ability to put people at ease. She was the type of person who would give you everything she had, if you needed it.
Jenn loved animals, especially her dogs. She was a talented hair stylist, and her positive enthusiasm brought sunshine and a smile to her co-workers’ and clients’ faces. She was a creative artist and loved molding clay sculptures, painting and drawing. She had a passion for the outdoors, especially hiking in the mountains. Jenn also loved music and played the flute in high school.
Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Her other favorite verse was 1 Peter 5:5: “Be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Her favorite unknown quote was: “You lead a useful life, no matter what riches are coming to you.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Roberts Jr., in 2004; and her brother Hayden Davis.

Sarah Edith Stonesifer, 22, of Aberdeen, died Friday, March 29, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained from an automobile accident.
Sarah was born Sept. 11, 1990, in Wilmington, to Nelson and Anne (Hess) Stonesifer.

A celebration of Sarah’s life was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Boles Funeral Home, in Southern Pines, with Pastor Tommy Sweeley officiating. Burial followed in Bethesda Cemetery, in Aberdeen.
Sarah was a 2008 graduate of Pinecrest High School and an employee of the Southern Pines Animal Health Clinic, where she was a veterinary technician. She volunteered as a firefighter with the Pinehill Fire Department in Hoke County and was a member of the Rockfish Coon Club.
She enjoyed coon hunting and showing her award-winning coon dog, Camille, who received several trophies and ribbons.
Sarah is survived by her parents, Nelson and Anne Stonesifer, of Aberdeen; a sister, Emily Stonesifer, of Aberdeen; grandparents, Shirley Stonesifer, of Ocala, Fla., and Edith Hess, of Rowland; an uncle, Paul Hess, of Salisbury; four aunts, Connie Stanley and husband, William, of Aberdeen, Janet Miller and husband, Matt, of Pasadena, Md., Denise Hall of Dunnellon, Fla., and Cindy Hess, of Baltimore.

Obituary for Louise J. Dillon Jr.
Louis J. Dillon Jr., of Foxfire Village, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was 88.
Born in Woodside, N.Y., the son of Louis J. Dillon Sr. and Edith Brunsch Dillon, he was raised in Bayside, N.Y.
Mr. Dillon joined the United States Marine Corps at age 17, on Jan. 23, 1943, and was trained as a combat movie photographer prior to participating in the Pacific campaign during World War II. He received the National Headline Award for motion pictures taken on Iwo Jima. During the Korean War, he was an instructor at the USMC Base, Quantico, Va.
After his military service, Mr. Dillon worked in the lithography and printing business in New York City. He married Frances V. Cleveland in 1956 and in 1962, they moved to Wallkill, N.Y., and together founded Toll House Card Company. For many years, he was president of the Wallkill Chamber of Commerce.
In 1980, they moved their business to Aberdeen, then later sold it to start a tool and die company. Several years later, he sold that company and finished his tool and die career working for Purolator Products, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Dillon is survived by his wife, Frances; his son Peter Dillon, of Grovetown, Ga.; his daughter, Laura Hamerka, of Raleigh; his son William Dillon, of High Point; and four grandchildren, Sarah Albrecht, of Chapel Hill, Tyler Dillon, of High Point, Megan Brannan, of Enid, Okla., and Paige Hamerka, of Raleigh.
The funeral service will be held at a later date, at Quantico National Cemetery, in Virginia.

Mary enjoyed being a wife and mother, spending time with her family and reading a good book. Her most recent joy was becoming a nana and spoiling her grandchildren. She spent countless hours on the ballfield cheering on her children or helping her husband take pictures over the past 20 years. She also spent many years with the children and her colleagues of Moore County Schools, where she was employed as an administrative assistant at Southern Pines Primary School.
Mary is survived by her husband, Dana Hal Kirk; three children, Carmen Vaughan and husband, John, Jared Kirk and wife, Erin, and Jordan Kirk; two brothers, Benny Laton and wife, Karen, and Richard Laton and wife, Dottie; two grandchildren, Carter Vaughan and Lily Kayte Kirk; two brothers-in-law, Tommy Kirk and wife, Marva, and Tony Kirk and wife, Donna; as well as many nieces and nephews. Marge and her late husband, Tommy Gschwind, owned and operated The Glitter Box in Aberdeen for many years. She was an active, lifelong member of Page Memorial United Methodist Church, the Cardinal Book Club and the Aberdeen Home and Garden Club.
Marge loved her Lord, her family and her friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Gail Thompson and husband, Gary, and Cheryl Gardner, of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Brian Thompson, Paige Jackson and husband, Kevin, and Jonathan Beard; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Madison Jackson; and one sister, Betty S. Pierce, of Winston-Salem.

Following this career, she worked for the Seven Lakes Country Club as a receptionist and bookkeeper. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, crocheting and bird watching.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Michelle Cole Bolton, of Charleston, S.C.; son, Craig Moore Cole and wife, Sharon, of Eagle Springs; granddaughter, Samantha Mariah Bolton, of Greenville; and siblings, W.C. Mrs. Ross was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Moore County, to the late Alva and Gladys (Marks) Ring. She was a devoted wife and mother. She and her husband managed their family farm for their entire marriage. She worked and traveled to the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua for McMurray Fabrics. She enjoyed traveling with her son and crafting with her daughter.
Mrs. Ross is survived by her husband of 53 years, Josel Ross; a son, Calvin Ross and his wife, Tammy, of Whispering Pines; a daughter, Catherine Welker and husband, Ronald, of Seven Lakes; three brothers, Tommy Ring and wife, Carol, of Vass, Alva Buster Ring, of Vass, and Johnny Ring and wife, Sylvia, of Cameron; two sisters, Mary Alice Whitaker and husband, Ray, of Carthage, and Margie Barnes and husband, George, of Statesville; five grandchildren, Tiffany Ross, Sarah Ross, Caitlin McKenzie Evans and her husband, Johnny, Christian McKenzie and Clement McKenzie.

Ruth enjoyed life and was an avid golfer and tennis player for many years. She also enjoyed spending time reading, traveling and attending many concerts.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Loren T. Florell, in 2008; one brother, Kenneth Hoffmeyer; and one sister, Kay Sassaman.
She is survived by her three sons, Dr. John L. Florell and his wife, Marcia, of Normal, Ill., Richard T. Florell and his wife, Jean, of Orlando, Fla., and Kenneth M. She was a bookkeeper for many years, working at Sandhill Furniture Co., Greer Furniture Co., Mobil Products and Whispering Pines Inc., retiring in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Donald W. Morrison; her sisters, Glennie M. Parrott and Dorothy M. Ritter; and her brothers, Walter McInnis, Eugene McInnis, Duncan McInnis and Lynn McInnis.
Surviving her are many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her quick wit and lovely smile.

Obituary for Nettie J. Fiddner
Nettie Jane Fiddner, 69, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Bethesda Cemetery, Aberdeen. Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home, Southern Pines.
She was born July 15, 1943, in Geneva, Fla., to Lettie Daisy Knight and Theron Beldon Thomas Sr.
Mrs. Fiddner is survived by daughter Teresa Ann McCaskill and husband, Michael, of Aberdeen; son Richard Wayne Fiddner, of Cameron, and Linda Sue Eckliff and husband, Harold, of Cameron; brother Gene Thomas and wife, Barbara Thomas, of Pinebluff; sister-in-law Elsie Thomas, of Pinebluff; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Theron Beldon Thomas Jr.
